Campus Visit Opportunities for Spring 2020

The University at Buffalo’s Office of Admissions offers many campus visit opportunities. If you know of any students interested in visiting during a transfer-focused open house program, please remind your students to SAVE THE DATE: Friday, March 13, 2020, is UB’s Transfer Visit Day! Registration is open now at transfer.buffalo.edu

Students may also attend any of our Visit UB information sessions and campus tours. We offer a special Transfer Visit UB program for prospective transfer students bimonthly throughout the year, typically on Friday afternoons. The visit opportunity includes an information session specifically geared toward transfer applicant information and questions, followed by a student-led tour of North Campus.

If you have advisees who are weighing their options or who are curious about the transfer application process for this semester (or for a future academic term), please encourage them to sign up for a Transfer Visit UB session.

Top-ranked Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences programs in SUNY

Advising Prehealth Students? We can help!

UB’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences is the premier pharmacy school within the State University of New York system. Our school and its PharmD program are ranked No. 1 in New York State and are in the top 15 percent in the country, according to U.S. News & World Report. Our pharmaceutical sciences programs, focusing on drug discovery and development, are internationally renowned and taught by world leaders in the field, resulting in a superior educational experience.

If you advise students seeking a flexible health care career who wish to explore accessible options beyond medical school, refer them to the School of Pharmacy website to learn more about our transfer pathways to our Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. Students can go to the school’s Visit Us page for a list of options to meet with an advisor at any point in the year.

School of Nursing

The School of Nursing has begun offering additional start terms to the RN to BS program. Students can now enter the RN to BS program in the spring, summer or fall. The program is 100 percent online, with no requirement to come to campus. Courses are offered in an asynchronous format.

Students have the option to complete the program in one or two years. There is an early assurance option for students graduating with their associate’s degree in nursing, as they can start the program without having passed the NCLEX or secured employment as a RN.

Statistics is the only course UB will check for completion. If a student has not taken statistics, it is offered during their first semester of the program. Students can learn more about the program and admission requirements by visiting the School of Nursing website. The School of Nursing offers virtual and on-campus information sessions on a monthly basis, and advisor Louiza Case is happy to speak with anyone who is interested.

Graduate School of Education

UB’s Graduate School of Education (GSE) takes a nontraditional, highly effective approach to preparing students for graduate studies or for their career field of choice. With undergraduate minors in education, counseling, education leadership policy and equity, and information studies, GSE allows students to gain transferable skills applicable to any graduate program or future career.

GSE, in conjunction with the College of Arts and Sciences, offers the UB Teach program, which prepares students to become skilled teachers as they earn both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five years. Upon completion of the combined degrees, students are eligible for New York State professional teaching certification in grades 5–12. Whether looking to enter the field of teaching, counseling, educational leadership or information, or if your students are simply looking for a way to broaden their skills and increase their marketability, GSE can be a guide on their journey to a career in education.

College of Arts and Sciences

The College of Arts and Sciences has introduced several new degree programs and other curricula that are of interest to students considering transferring to the University at Buffalo. They include a BA degree in Criminology, a BS degree in Neuroscience, a BA or BS degree in Environmental Studies, a BS in Environmental Geosciences, and an MA degree in Sustainability Leadership.

UB’s 3+3 Accelerated BA-J.D. programs are appropriate for qualified undergraduate students who have the capacity and readiness to complete their undergraduate education and law degree in less time than typically required. Students who meet the eligibility requirements can complete a combined degree in just six years.

CAS has introduced new minors to broaden students’ educational and career opportunities. Exciting new options include Addiction Studies, Criminology, Health and Human Services, Nonprofit Leadership, Strategic Media Messaging, Digital Humanities, and Philosophy, Politics, and Economics.

Micro-credentials allow students to meet their personalized learning needs by gaining knowledge and skills in areas that are relevant to their academic or professional goals. Recently created micro-credentials within the college include Crime and Justice in Diverse Society and Gender and Globalization.
