Studio Art BA - General Studio Concentration

Students in the general BA studio concentration are taught a variety of technical, conceptual and creative problem-solving skills, preparing them for life-long careers in the professional world of art and design. The BA in Studio Art at UB is a liberal arts degree with a focus on studio art. This allows students flexibility to pursue a minor or double major in another program.

Those who enter the BA in Studio Art at UB come from diverse backgrounds, but all share a passion for art. The first two years of study primarily focus on expanding a student's knowledge of art history and foundation fundamentals. These introductory courses provide the bedrock for all subsequent 300- and 400-level courses. Your customized course of study at UB will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary for developing creative practices that are relevant to your individual goals, connecting you to the city of Buffalo and to the larger world. Many of our undergraduate majors go on to graduate school at other prestigious universities, building careers as leading artists, designers, artistic directors, researchers, scholars, and educators in their disciplines.
