Speech and Hearing Science BA/Early Childhood Education EdM
The UB Teach Speech and Hearing/Early Childhood-Childhood Education program is an accelerated, combined degree program that allows you to earn a Speech and Hearing BA and an Early Childhood/Childhood Education EdM within five years. It provides you with content expertise in Speech and Hearing while preparing you how to bring classroom lessons to life for children from birth to grade 6.
While in the Department of Communicative Disorders and Sciences you will focus on the development and breakdown of speech, language, and hearing processes. Courses focus on the nature and causes of communicative disorders, the techniques used to assess and diagnose speech, language, and hearing disorders, and the current methods and therapies used to remedy these problems.
The graduate portion of the program you will master the skills needed to become an effective teacher. In the final year teacher residency, you will co-teach alongside an expert teacher to experience the inner workings of the classroom.
At the end of the five-year program, successful students will receive recommendation for New York State Initial and Professional Teacher Certification.
