I'm an Iowa native, graduating from Maurice-Orange City Floyd Valley High School in 1997 and from Central College in Iowa in 2001. When I decided to move to New York, it was a big decision, and I have to admit I was a bit nervous about it. But coming to the University at Buffalo has been one wonderful experience after another.

I like UB because of the diversity of people. I can walk out of my office and hear four different languages being spoken. As an undergraduate, I was able to study abroad in the Netherlands for a semester, so I was excited when I found out that UB has study abroad programs in more than 30 countries.

Buffalo itself has been a great experience, too. I love exploring the city and finding new favorite places. Buffalo is definitely a college town with tons of different activities to keep everyone busy. I have really enjoyed exploring the Elmwood and Allentown districts and hiking along the Niagara River. I’ve also become a fan of the Buffalo Sabres. There is always something going on in Buffalo, and finding your way around is never a problem.
