At UB, we believe that knowledge isn’t just something you gain, it is something you experience. Through a variety of exciting academic initiatives, you’ll have the opportunity to be actively involved with your studies. And you’ll work collaboratively with both renowned faculty members and other talented students—relationships which will deeply enrich your UB experience.
From Discovery Seminars, faculty-led academies, scholarly communities, and innovative resources like the Center for Research and Creative Activities to engaging experiences for upper-division students, like study abroad programs, and internships, you’ll have access to everything you’ll need to succeed. And you can achieve more in less time through our combined degree programs, which allow you to receive an undergraduate and graduate degree in as little as five years.
There’s always something to do at UB: Division I sports, concerts, festivals, and more than 200 student clubs. Plus, we have year-round campus events to keep you entertained.
Living on campus is another way to be a special part of the university. Our fifteen co-ed residence halls on our two campuses have their own social activities and support programs. Plus, you’ll have access to fitness rooms, game rooms, and much more.
What about eating? UB has everything from Starbucks to Subway, a kosher deli to traditional dining areas, and lots of places to grab a quick snack.
An important factor that adds to the unique learning experience at UB is our diverse student population. As the largest, most comprehensive university in the State University of New York system, UB draws students and faculty from across the nation and around the globe. In fact, we were ranked 6th for “most diverse student population” by Princeton Review.
UB is a large university, which means it has many advantages. Like more than one hundred majors to choose from and thousands of students and faculty to interact with. At the same time, we have programs and services that make UB feel like a small community, including UB 101, block scheduling, and our First-Year Residential Experience program. These programs introduce you to other students with similar interests, so you can share your experiences and build friendships. There are also many UB-sponsored advising services that support social, interpersonal, and emotional growth.
Every student at UB has access to high-speed Internet and 24/7 computer labs. We’re also well known for our campus-wide wireless Internet accessibility. And with MyUB, your one-stop online destination, you can check course registration, grades, student services, and more. There’s also UBlearns, where professors post course syllabi and class notes, and iconnect@ub, which provides free software and IT support services.
Once you let us know you are enrolling at UB, you can activate your UB IT account, learn to access MyUB, and use UB email—all before coming to orientation.
