Internships

Hands on learning

Getting the first job in your field can be a challenge: employers want experienced applicants, but gaining experience before you land that first job is tough. So how can you obtain valuable experience without years of employment? Get an internship!

Internships give you practical, real-world experience that looks great on your resumé. Getting an internship also helps you learn to prepare a resume and cover letter, follow leads, and hone your interviewing skills - all essential to landing that perfect job when you graduate. There are thousands of internship opportunities available to UB undergraduates, and UB has many ways to help you find the one that matches your career goals and fits into your schedule.

Working with Career Planning and Placement

UB's Office of Career Services is a good place to start. Career Services lists thousands of internship opportunities each year, hosts job fairs, coordinates on-campus interviews, provides a resumé referral service, and maintains a database of contacts who can help you explore different career options. And you can do almost everything online.

Working Within Your Major

Almost all of UB's departments and schools offer internship opportunities – some require it as part of their academic program. Even those departments without formalized internship programs can help you find an internship. All you have to do is ask!
