Graduate Study

Beyond the bachelor's degree - graduate study

UB offers more than 200 master's and doctoral programs. And our combined undergraduate and graduate degree programs (see below) allow students in some fields to begin graduate study during their senior year at UB.

A master's degree is becoming the preferred entry-level degree in many professions. And the investment of the extra year of study that a master's degree usually requires pays off in better starting salary and greater choice of good jobs when you leave school. Departmental websites describe their graduate programs and UB's Graduate School website is the best source for information about all UB graduate programs.

Combined Degrees

UB's combined degree programs - such as a B.A./M.A. or a B.S./M.B.A. - enable students to shorten the time and coursework required to complete both an undergraduate and graduate degree. Students accepted into a combined degree program begin taking graduate-level courses - and earning graduate credit - while they're still undergraduates. UB currently has nearly 30 established combined degree programs in a variety of areas, including biology, business administration, computer science, economics, engineering, geography, mathematics, medicinal chemistry, nursing, pharmaceutics, sociology, and social work. If you're interested in a combined degree program, your academic advisor can help you get started.
